Have you heard the saying, "Cash is king"?  Or how about, "Happiness is a positive cash flow"?  Positive cash flow is the life-blood of your business.  Without positive cash flow, your business will suffer and can die.  More businesses go out of business due to negative cash flow than for any other reason.  Negative cash flow can be prevented. When cash flow is effectively managed, it will create positive cash flow.  Contact us now and let's get started.

What is cash flow?

Cash flow is the difference in the amount of cash you have available at the beginning of a period (let's use a month as our period for this definition), and the amount of cash you have at the end of the period.

If the difference is positive, you have a Positive Cash Flow:

April 1 cash balance was

$42,855

April 30 cash balance was

$56,932

April Positive Cash Flow =

$14,077

If the difference is negative, you have a Negative Cash Flow:

April 1 cash balance was

$42,855

April 30 cash balance was

$36,932

April Negative Cash Flow =

$-5,923

How is cash flow increased?

Examples of ways a business can increase its cash flow include:

  • Increasing sales (selling more goods or services)
  • Increasing the selling price
  • Collecting your accounts receivable quicker
  • Selling an asset you own.
  • Reducing costs
  • Paying your accounts payable slower
  • Taking a loan / borrowing
  • Increasing equity (owner contributing funds or company selling stock to investor)

Can CPA Business Advisors help me create positive cash flow?

Yes, yes we can.  The starting point for creating positive cash flow is to know where your cash is and has been going historically.  Depending upon the state of your books and records, this may be an easy or difficult task; however, it must be our starting place.

Once we know where the cash is going, we can identify where changes need to be made.  In the next step, we will work with you to create a detailed cash flow projection specifically for your business and its current situation.  We will guide you in the management of the cash flow projection to get your business into a steady positive cash flow.  The benefits you will reap from a properly created and managed cash flow projection will pay for themselves time and time again.
